Ilwaco is located on the Long Beach Peninsula at the mouth of the Columbia River. Surrounded by lush wilderness, not only can visitors take advantage of the many hiking trails like the Lewis and Clark Discovery Trail, but they can spend the night at one of the region's campgrounds.Still an operating fishing village, known for its sturgeon, salmon, halibut and crab, the Port of Ilwaco caters to recreational and commercial fishermen. The port and the surrounding vicinity is the heart of the village, where visitors can enjoy fresh seafood and oceanfront dining, meander through the Saturday Farmer's Market, or take a look at artwork by local artists. For a taste of history and culture, take a trip to the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum or visit Ilwaco in October for the annual three-day Cranberrian Fair.
